Grand Piano Ornament

Scaled down from an instrument that never quite fits the room you actually have for it, the Grand Piano Ornament is our most detailed piano ornament yet, cast entirely in hand-blown glass. The body and lifted lid emerge together from a single gather of molten glass, and the keyboard detail is painted in afterward, line by line, once things have firmed up enough to hold a careful hand. The people who play the grand piano have generally made their peace with what the instrument demands and arranged their whole lives around it, a kind of commitment other people notice and quietly respect even without fully understanding why they do. Hang this for the one who sits down at any piano they happen to find and plays something that makes the entire room stop talking mid-sentence. More than one name on a wall within Rock and Roll Hall of Fame started at exactly this instrument, in exactly this kind of room.
